The Eichele companies of Saint Louis, as well as the Thomas Allen Company, were interconnected, but do not appear to have been branches of the same company. August Eichele produced Superior Telegraph Matches from 1865 until 1881, and was the foreman of Eichele & Company as well. August Eichele stamps were issued from June of 1865 to mid-February, 1869. 10,715,000 were issued on old paper. Despite the number issued, copies are not common today.
