The Father Mathew Temperance & Manufacturing Company

The Father Mathew Company appears to have been a rather short-lived attempt to break into the US market by a Canadian Company. The company's stamps were first issued1878 and last issued prior to October, 1880. 14,300 were printed, on watermarked paper. The stamps are not rare despite the small number issued, as remainders were available.

The Father Mathew Company used general issue proprietary stamps for other amounts.

A trade card featuring the cure for intemperance.

Apparently the company did some business in the US again around the end of the century, as its cancels are known on "battleship" proprietary revenues.
