Dr. John Bull

Dr. John Bull's preparations included Sarsaparilla, Cedron Bitters, Worm Destroyer and Smith's Tonic Syrup. The firm went into business around 1865, and private die stamps were issued from April, 1866 through February 19, 1883. 1,899,009 of the one-cent stamps were printed on old paper, 792,867 on silk paper and 1,273,618 on pink and watermarked papers. This copy is on watermarked paper.


Bull's four-cent stamps were issued from April, 1866 through March 19, 1883. 1,710,840 were printed on old paper, 907,412 on silk paper and 1,656,583 on pink and watermarked papers. The copy shown is on watermarked paper.
