Newbauer & Company

Newbauer & Company were active for several years before they contracted to have their four-cent stamp printed. They are known to have used general issue stamps for small packages of matches as well. The private die stamps were issued from February of 1872 until April 25, 1883. 6,254,764 were printed on silk paper and 14, 672,829 were printed on pink and watermarked papers. The copy above was printed on watermarked paper.
