Bock, Schneider & Company and Arnold & Company manufactured Paragon matches for several years in the New York area. The Bock, Schneider stamp was issued in December of 1871 and only continued until November of 1872. 759,000 were issued on silk paper.


From contemporary correspondence, "The plate was bought from Bock, Schneider & Co. by the Paragon Match Co. 509 & 511 W. 45th St., New York, on Sept. 25, 1872. Mr. Carpenter is advised tht the Paragon Match Co. has become Arnold & Co., and is ordered to change the lettering, as above, on the stamp." 495,000 of the Arnold & Co. stamps were issued on silk paper.
